What is Mediation?

Mediation can help individuals or groups resolve conflicts using a neutral mediator who helps keep the focus on reaching workable agreements.

Unlike court cases, mediation is   confidential and scheduled at the    convenience of the parties involved.   Parties also maintain control of the process including the nature and scope of their agreements.

Mediation works for all involved.  It’s an opportunity to save time, money, and possibly even a relationship.

Community

The Community Mediation Program is a cost effective alternative for resolving conflicts providing an opportunity for the community to resolve conflicts by productively discussing solutions that work for everyone involved. As an alternative to pursuing resolution through the court system, mediation services are voluntary, confidential, and offered either at no cost to the participants or on an affordable sliding fee scale.

Types of disputes mediated include:

  • Neighbor Disputes – barking dogs, property lines, noise, threats, trespassing, and easements
  • Landlord/Tenant Conflicts - refund of security deposits, damaged property, rent owed or repairs needed
  • Customer  and Business Issues -  quality of workmanship, payment plans, negotiations, payment for work, division of goods, rentals
  • Friends and Associates – money owed, communication problems, threats, phone calls, use of a vehicle, roommate issues, relationships, assaults
  • Small Claims – disputes over money, goods or services
  • Personal Property  - car accidents, stolen goods, damage to a home or other property
