Community
The Community Mediation Program is a way of resolving conflicts through discussion with the help of a trained mediator. Parties involved meet with two trained community mediators who will invite each person to talk about the conflict from their point of view and then walk them through a process to try to find a workable solution.
Mediators empower parties to make decisions for themselves. Mediators do not offer advice(including legal advice), decide who is right and wrong, or make any decisions for you.
Community Mediation is offered at no charge. Appointments are available at 10am, 2pm and 6pm on weekdays.
You can use mediation if you have a court case pending, if you are thinking about filing charges, or if you aren't considering court at all.
We can assist you in contacting the other party and inviting them to mediation.
Types of disputes mediated include:
- Neighbor Disputes – barking dogs, property lines, noise, threats, trespassing, and easements
- Landlord/Tenant Conflicts - refund of security deposits, damaged property, rent owed or repairs needed
- Customer and Business Issues - quality of workmanship, payment plans, negotiations, payment for work, division of goods, rentals
- Friends and Associates – money owed, communication problems, threats, phone calls, use of a vehicle, roommate issues, relationships, assaults
- Small Claims – disputes over money, goods or services
- Personal Property - car accidents, stolen goods, damage to a home or other property
